thoughts on life and other musings

I'm not even sure where to start.  I haven't blogged in a while.  Oh….there's been plenty happening.  It's mainly been a matter of not having time.  So…most of my time over the last few weeks has been devoted to getting our new facility ready for move-in.  Today, "Main Street" opened up at ABC.  It was great to see all the people enjoying the new WIDE hallway.  It's the realization of a vision that God had placed in our hearts years ago.   It hasn't all sunk in yet.  I'm not sure when it will.  Maybe when we have a chance to breathe.

The rest of this week, we'll be working diligently getting the rest of the rooms ready for our S.S. to be in the new facility next Sunday.  Lots still to be done.

Revival at ABC started this morning.  Wayne Marshall, pastor of Longview Heights in Olive Branch,  is our guest speaker/evangelist.  God is already using him to bring some great messages to us at Agricola.  I'm looking forward to the rest of this week as God breaks us and molds us to who He wants us to be.

Soccer has begun.  I'm coaching Micah's U-10 boys team.  We had 2 games yesterday to open up the season.  We won the 1st game 9-1.  Micah had 2 goals in the game.  We won the 2nd game 6-3, after falling behind 2-1 in the first half.  They didn't quit, and fought back hard.  Micah had 2 goals in the 2nd game as well.  So, that's 4 for the season so far.  I love those little boys.  They play so hard, and are so fun to be around.  It also gives me an opportunity to have influence in their lives.

We're going to Disney World!!  We're going to take a much-needed family vacation over Thanksgiving, and visit the most magical place on Earth.  This is part of Malaree's dance lessons that we're going.  She'll get to be in a parade while we are there.  Super excited about that!!

Super Bowl 44

Tonight's Super Bowl is the 44th in the history of the NFL.  The meeting between the Saints and the Colts should be a great one.  I'm excited about the game because it's a win-win for me.  I like both of these teams.  If you had to pin me down on who I want to win, I'd have to go with the Saints.  I've always watched the Saints.  Back in the days of Rickey Jackson and the rest of that defense.  Even through the many, thin years of not winning much.  They are obviously the regional favorite here.

The Colts are a well-coached and well-run team.  Peyton Manning is a beast.  To watch him manage a game at the QB position is nothing short of amazing.  He will wind up being the greatest QB to ever play the game.  So….in the words of the Black Eyed Peas….."tonight's gonna be a good night!!"

Saints vs. Vikings

I like football games like this.  It's a win-win.  Who do I WANT to win?  The Saints.  Absolutely.  I like Brett Favre.  He's got a few championships.  I want to see the Saints do the unimaginable.  And they can do it.  They have the team, the quarterback, the team, the home-field advantage.  Everything is there for them to pull it off.

The Colts vs. The Jets.  I'm pulling for the Colts.  Peyton Manning.  If the Colts lose this, it will be the biggest disappointment in the playoffs.

As for the Super Bowl, obviously we want the Saints to win.  Someone told me this week that the winner of the NFC championship game (Saints/Vikings) WOULD win the Super Bowl.  Hold on there, fella.  Have you forgotten that Peyton Manning is a beast.  He's like having a head coach in the huddle and on the field.  You can't just say stuff like that when you may be playing Peyton Manning and the Colts.

My hope:  Saints vs. Colts in the Super Bowl.

Sickness, Soccer, Football, and Bible Study

The sickness hit our household 3 days ago.  Hence, the reason for no posting.  Melanie came down with some sinus junk with a sore throat.  I pulled double duty with that.  I'm so thankful she's doing better now.

Tonight, Micah and I will go see George County vs. Stone County in football.  Looking forward to this!!  I love me some football.

On Sunday, we start our "Wild Goose Chase" Bible Study at church.  This is going to be an excellent 6 week study.

We had our first U-10 Boys soccer practice last night.  We had six of our 8 players there.  We should be ok this season.  We are a little young, but we'll get better.

Mid-week sports thoughts

Brett Favre:  Here is a 39 year old kid.  Brett Favre has come out of retirement…..again.  This is the 3rd or 4th time he has "come back".  People get frustrated with his indecision.  I do too.  However, a 39 yr. old Favre is better than most of the other quarterbacks in the NFL.  I don't fault him for wanting to play.  He has every right to it.  I do, however, think all he needs is to take the class "Decision-making 101".  Make a decision and stick to it.

Tiger Woods:  Tiger lost a major this last weekend on the last day.  This is a first for Tiger.  He's usually the steady and consistent player.  I don't think he's sulking.  He's probably been hitting the golf ball since 5:30 this morning making sure it doesn't happen again.  Tiger is still the best.  And by the time it is all said and done, he'll be the best ever to play the game.

George County Rebels:  The first game for the Rebels is this Friday night at Moss Point.  It's going to be a rebuilding year it seems.  With the loss of a great running back, the offense may be lacking some.  Quote to remember:  Championship teams aren't built by individuals who do extraordinary things.  It's built by  doing the ordinary things with excellence.

Go State!! …and other ramblings.

Miss. State is in the NCAA tourney.  They won 4 games in 4 days to take the SEC tourney championship, and receive an automatic bid to the Big Dance!!  We play the Univ. of Washington Huskies on Thursday.  This team is coming together at the right time.

I taught the 2nd week of "The Lord's Table" in DT this past Sunday.  I have to say that I am REALLY looking forward to the Lord's Supper this time.  I believe that we have brought the Lord's Supper to the forefront through the preaching on Sunday nights, as well as the DT time spent as individuals prepare themselves personally for this time on April 5th.  I am so excited that we focused our time on this.

I have a pretty full week of preparation ahead…along with other meetings and events.  Pray for our staff as we fulfill all God has called us to.  We have a great honor of serving Jesus through this church!!
